Malaysia to hire Pakistani
labour

| ISLAMABAD:
The Malaysian government has agreed to hire Pakistani
workers in five sectors on a three-year contract. This
was decided in a meeting on Saturday between Ghulam Sarwar
Khan, federal minister for labour, manpower and overseas
Pakistanis, and the Malaysian delegation led by Home Minister
Dato Azmi Bin Khalid. |

May 18 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government has assured
Pakistan that it would be given 50 percent quota for the
import of manpower from source countries.The assurance
was given by Ministry of Home Affairs Secretary-General,
Datuk Seri Aseh Che Mat, in a meeting with Federal Minister
for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis, Ghulam Sarwar
Khan, here on Tuesday, the Associated Press of Pakistan
(APP) reported. |

Pakistan Workers To
Arrive Mid-June

| KUALA
LUMPUR, June 3 (Bernama) -- The first batch of 1,000 Pakistani
workers out of 100,000 that Malaysia has agreed to recruit
to meet its labour shortage are expected to arrive by
mid-June, said Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Jamshaid
Iftikhar. He said this had been confirmed by Director-General
of the Immigration and Overseas Employment Bureau in Islamabad,
Pakistan. |

| KARACHI:
Malaysia has asked Pakistan for 100,000 workers to meet
labour shortages in development projects and other sectors,
and the first batch of 1,000 workers are expected to reach
Malaysia by mid-June. In this regard, a memorandum of
understanding was signed between the two countries during
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s recent visit to Malaysia. |

Malaysia to relax
foreign labour regulations

Kuala Lumpur,
May 27 (VNA) – Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs
Azmi Khalid has announced that Malaysia will enable
foreign workers with tourist visas to look for jobs
in the country. It is said that
the Malaysian Government made the unexpected decision
because the country is suffering from a critical lack
of labourers because it expelled hundreds of thousands
of illegal guest workers several months ago. The shortage
is also attributable to shortcomings in its plan to
bring foreign workers back through legal methods. |
